Electric cars made up 7.63% of the passenger-car market.

Tata Motors sold the largest share of electric passenger vehicles.

Mahindra & Mahindra was second.

Overall EV sales across vehicle categories reached 298,448 in August 2026.

The Federation of Automobile Dealers Associations said this was the biggest August ever for electric mobility in India.
