Court rules ANC’s removal of Lungisa from candidate list unlawful

Andile Lungisa challenged the ANC’s decision to remove him from its candidate list in Nelson Mandela Bay.

The Johannesburg High Court ruled the removal unlawful and ordered the party to restore his name to its internal list.

If the election commission lets the ANC add candidates, the party must submit Lungisa’s name.

The ruling could allow him to remain in the running for a local government seat.
