Joint List offers conditional support to an anti-Netanyahu coalition
Yousef Jabareen, who leads the Hadash faction of the Arab-led Joint List, said the party is willing to help an opposition bloc replace Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu after Israel’s October 27 election.
The party could support a minority government from outside the coalition, rather than joining it.
Jabareen said that support would come with conditions, including a funded plan to reduce crime in Arab communities and a path toward Palestinian statehood.
He also called for an end to home demolitions.
Polls have indicated that neither Netanyahu’s supporters nor his opponents are likely to win the 61 Knesset seats needed for a majority without Arab support.
Most mainstream opposition parties have ruled out relying on Arab factions, and most oppose a Palestinian state.
The Joint List says it is prepared to negotiate after the election, but it has not agreed to support a specific coalition.
