Procaccini clashes with radio hosts over Israel and reporting on October 7
Italian MEP Nicola Procaccini argued with radio hosts Gianluca Fabi and Savino Balzano during a live broadcast on Radio Cusano Campus.
The discussion began with an incident involving French-Palestinian MEP Rima Hassan at a memorial display in the European Parliament for victims of the Hamas attack on October 7, 2023.
Hassan acknowledged removing an Israeli flag, but denied touching a European Union flag that fell from the same stand.
She criticized the display as one-sided, and European Parliament President Roberta Metsola said the incident would be checked.
Procaccini condemned the incident and said Hassan and others shared Hamas’s viewpoint.
He then accused the hosts of spreading false claims about whether Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu had prior knowledge of the attack and about a Flydubai co-pilot.
The hosts cited reporting by the Wall Street Journal and the Israeli newspaper Haaretz, while Procaccini disputed their interpretation.
The exchange became increasingly heated, and no outcome of the European Parliament’s checks is given.
