Fitto calls for a more flexible EU budget and stronger international role

Raffaele Fitto said the EU needs to compete better and play a stronger role internationally.

He called for more flexibility in how the EU uses its budget, so it can respond to changing needs.

The Commission has approved flexibility for energy spending, while Italy’s request related to inflation is still being assessed.

Fitto also said universities can help support development, especially in southern regions.
