ADT may help install devices in Apple’s smart home plans

Apple may bring ADT into its smart home plans, according to clues from the security company’s hiring.

ADT has advertised for low-voltage technicians across the United States since July.

Some new hires say they are waiting to learn their duties, and managers have described work involving home automation and installation services.

The signs point to ADT helping customers set up devices, rather than making new hardware for Apple.

LG and Schneider Electric have also been linked to Apple’s plans, which could include cameras and thermostats.

This could give customers help installing devices that may be difficult to mount or set up themselves.

ADT reportedly plans to share more details with the hires later in October, possibly after an Apple announcement; an announcement on October 13 is only a possibility.
