Roosters see Nawaqanitawase returning to the NRL in two years
Mark Nawaqanitawase is a star winger for the Sydney Roosters in Australia’s National Rugby League.
He is set to spend two years playing rugby union for Japan’s Saitama Wild Knights.
The Roosters say they expect him to return to league after that stint.
The club wants to pay him about $1 million a season as a winger, which would make him the game’s best-paid winger.
His management is also interested in him becoming a fullback when Roosters captain James Tedesco retires.
The Roosters say they would offer fullback-level pay if Nawaqanitawase develops into a top-level player in that position.
His role and pay will depend on what happens after he returns.
