VRC chairman Neil Wilson to step down after return to profit
Neil Wilson will leave as chairman of the Victoria Racing Club after its annual general meeting in December.
He has led the Australian racing club for six years and says its return to profit helped him decide to step down.
The club reported a $5.4 million profit, a $12.6 million improvement from the previous year, after losing $78 million over five years from 2020 to 2025.
The club has named Vin Cox, who is based in Queensland, as its next chair.
An anonymous source said the 11 directors’ vote was 6-5, but Wilson rejected claims that the appointment exposed a board rift.
Cox is due for re-election to the board next month, so he could be voted off before becoming chair.
Wilson says he will work with Cox during a transition period before handing over in December.
