Vidyut Jammwal cast as Dhalsim to give Street Fighter character an authentic Indian connection

Dhalsim is a character from the Street Fighter games, but some people worried the film might portray him as a caricature.

Director Kitao Sakurai said the film would not feel complete without him.

He chose Vidyut Jammwal, citing his links to yoga, martial arts and Indian traditions.

The casting reflects an effort to honour the character’s cultural roots rather than mock them.
