Sismo, earthquake and tremor all describe ground movement

All three words describe the same kind of ground movement, caused by energy released inside Earth.

Scientists often use “sismo” for any such event.

People may say “temblor” for a mild event and “terremoto” for one that causes more damage.

That everyday distinction is not an official scientific rule.
