Italy’s child rights commissioner withdraws from European network

Italy’s child rights commissioner, Marina Terragni, announced that the country would leave a European network of child rights officials.

She said the network would not publish her objection to a report on LGBTQIA+ children’s rights.

The report recommends stronger protection from discrimination and violence, among other measures.

Opposition parties and Arcigay criticized the withdrawal, saying it weakens cooperation on protecting children.
