Student who met Sagamihara attacker urges young people to reflect on killings

Kazuaki began visiting Uematsu while he was in junior high school, hoping to understand the man who killed 19 people at a care home.

Uematsu told him he believed people with severe communication disabilities were a burden.

Kazuaki found his reasoning flawed and came away thinking Uematsu put too much value on appearance and ability.

Ten years after the attack, Kazuaki wants young people to think about what happened and why.
