WHO issues first global guidelines for treating obesity in children
The WHO has published its first global guidelines for treating obesity in children and teenagers.
The main approach combines healthy eating, physical activity and lasting changes in behavior.
Medicines or surgery are not recommended for children under 10, while they may be considered for some older teenagers under strict conditions.
The guidance also highlights mental health and says exercise apps or games for children over 2 should be supervised by an adult.
