Mashatile to address Limpopo investment conference after sick leave
South Africa’s Deputy President Paul Mashatile is scheduled to address a major investment conference in Limpopo on Thursday, after returning from two months of sick leave.
The event, held in Polokwane, brings together government, investors and finance groups to support investment projects in the province.
The conference aims to turn investment pledges into working projects, by helping prepare projects, secure financing and clear approval delays.
From 2021 to 2025, Limpopo recorded R452.38 billion in investment pledges, but R71.058 billion became real investment and contributed to 23,968 jobs.
Mashatile is also due to launch a one-stop centre for investors to access government services and help with regulatory and administrative processes.
The conference will focus on sectors including mining beneficiation, agro-processing, manufacturing, renewable energy and digital technology.
Officials say success will depend on projects advancing and jobs and economic activity being created, not only on the value of new pledges.
Deputy President Paul Mashatile is scheduled to address the sixth Limpopo Investment Conference on Thursday, after returning from two months of sick leave.

What people are saying
must not remain a figure in a presentation or an announcement at a conference. It must translate into projects, construction, production, employment and sustainable economic activity.
We are moving beyond the celebration of commitments towards the acceleration of bankable projects, capital mobilisation, industrial development and inclusive economic participation,
The success of this conference will therefore not be measured only by the value of investment announced. It will also be measured by the projects that advance, barriers that are removed, enterprises that are established and opportunities created for our people.
