Everton owners explore sale less than two years after takeover
The Friedkin Group, an American company led by Dan Friedkin, is exploring new investment options for Everton, including a possible sale of a controlling stake.
It took over the Premier League club in December 2024, when Everton faced serious financial problems.
The owners said they had focused on stabilising the club and supporting its move to a new stadium.
The sale plan comes less than two years into their ownership.
Fans became angry after Everton considered selling young midfielder Harrison Armstrong and later sold striker Beto, while forward Iliman Ndiaye also left.
Manager David Moyes said the summer had been difficult and that he had never spoken to Friedkin.
The group says it will consider only buyers it believes can take the club forward.

Moyes said he was surprised because he expected the owners to stay for 20 to 30 years; supporters reacted angrily to transfer decisions and frustration grew over the owners’ involvement.
We will only entertain interest from parties who we strongly believe will be the right stewards to take the club forward and build on the momentum that has been established
I was surprised because they only came in a year and a half ago. Most owners come in a lot longer than that
I think we were all expecting them to be here for the next 20 to 30 years. I truly believed we had new ownership who were in it completely with us all.
It is also a good time to sell because it is such a buoyant market.
