Dan Stevens’ 2014 Horror Thriller The Guest Is a Stylish Slasher Surprise
The Guest is a 2014 action thriller directed by Adam Wingard and starring Dan Stevens.
Stevens plays David Collins, a soldier who visits the family of his friend Caleb, who died in battle.
David says he wants to help the grieving family, but soon becomes part of their household and starts intervening in their lives.
The family eventually learns that David is an unstable super soldier created by a secret government experiment.
When the truth comes out, he turns violently against the family and others around them.
The film uses that threat to disrupt the idea of a safe, stable family home.
It is available on video on demand, and Wingard’s later film Onslaught shares some broad themes but is not a direct sequel.
