Julius Randle says he feels valued and wants to win with the Nets

Julius Randle says he is happy to be with Brooklyn after being traded from Minnesota, a contending team, to the Nets, who are rebuilding.

The forward, now with his fifth team in 13 years, says the Nets have made him feel valued and supported.

Randle also rejects the idea that Brooklyn should expect to finish near the bottom of the Eastern Conference, saying he came to compete and play to win.

The Nets are coached by Jordi Fernandez, and Randle says he enjoys working with him.

Rookie guard Mikel Brown Jr., the sixth pick in this year’s draft, missed the Nets’ first three preseason games after rolling his left ankle in practice, but he is set to debut Wednesday in Miami.

Chaney Johnson, who is on a two-way contract, is competing for rotation minutes after a strong summer league and training camp.

Nolan Traore is working to use his quick first step to create space for his shot as he competes for playing time in Brooklyn’s crowded backcourt.
