Crédit Agricole agrees to take over Germany’s IKB bank

French bank Crédit Agricole has agreed to take full ownership of IKB Deutsche Industriebank from investment firm Lone Star.

IKB is based in Düsseldorf and is closely connected to Germany’s medium-sized businesses.

It has about 600 employees and six regional offices in Germany.

The purchase price has not been disclosed, and Crédit Agricole will pay using its own funds.

Crédit Agricole says Germany is a key market as it expands its activities there.

IKB’s chief says the new owner will give the bank more financial strength and access to an international network.

The deal is expected to be completed by the end of the second quarter of 2027, if regulators approve it.
