Prosecutors seek life sentence for uncle over boy’s fatal fall in Istanbul

Prosecutors seek life sentence for uncle over boy’s fatal fall in Istanbul

Eight-year-old Oğuzhan Moğol died after falling from a sixth-floor window in Bahçelievler, Istanbul, on August 20, 2024.

Prosecutors have completed their investigation and say there is sufficient suspicion that his uncle, Mustafa Uğur S., threw him from the window.

They are seeking an aggravated life sentence, but the allegation has not been decided in court.

Oğuzhan’s 9-year-old sister told investigators that she saw their uncle holding him near an open window and then letting or throwing him out.

Their mother said she was not at home and said her daughter had also described Oğuzhan slipping while climbing near the window.

The indictment says investigators continued examining the case after the sister’s account, although a police report had assessed that Oğuzhan was not pushed by another person.

The case now moves to court, where the allegations will be considered.
