Xiaomi, Samsung and Oppo challenge Apple’s first foldable iPhone

Apple’s first foldable phone, the iPhone Duo, is due in stores on October 23, with pre-orders starting a week earlier.

Xiaomi, Samsung and Oppo already sell foldable phones that compete in the same growing market.

Xiaomi’s 18 Fold has screens similar in size to the Duo’s, weighs less and has three rear cameras, but is currently available only in China.

Samsung’s Galaxy Z Fold8 uses a wider design and starts at $1,900, just $100 below the Duo’s starting price.

Oppo’s Find N6 is thinner when closed and has a larger battery, but it is not officially sold in the US.

The phones show how Apple’s rivals are competing on shape, weight, cameras, battery life and price.

The Duo’s arrival will give buyers another option, while Xiaomi’s wider availability remains limited for now.
