European Commission sets up Element as a backup to Microsoft Teams

The European Commission is setting up Element so staff can communicate if Microsoft Teams is unavailable.

Element will run on the Commission’s own systems and support messages, calls, file transfers and project discussions.

Teams is not being replaced.

The backup is meant to reduce disruption and give the Commission more control over its communications.
