Verstappen wins in Singapore despite Red Bull radio problems

Max Verstappen won the Singapore Grand Prix for Red Bull in 2026, taking two pole positions and two victories over the sprint weekend.

Singapore had been a difficult track for Red Bull in past years.

Verstappen said a problem before he released the clutch hurt his start, and deployment issues later gave Charles Leclerc a chance to challenge him.

He also had trouble with his team radio: he could hear Red Bull, but the team could not understand his replies.

His race engineer, Gianpiero Lambiase, used simple signals to ask whether Verstappen wanted a pit stop if a safety car appeared.

Red Bull team principal Laurent Mekies said the radio problem was on the team’s side and that it would be addressed.

Verstappen said he had experienced radio difficulties throughout the season, with this weekend particularly bad.
