Palakkad lawyer P.B. Menon turns 100 and continues practising law

P.B. Menon turned 100 on October 10, 2026, in Palakkad, Kerala.

He still goes to court and has no plans to retire.

The Guinness World Record recognises him for the longest career as a practising lawyer.

Menon set the record after 73 years and 60 days in practice, surpassing the previous record held by Gibraltar lawyer Louis Triay.

He studied at Government Victoria College in Palakkad and Madras Law College before starting work at the Madras High Court.

After two years, he returned to Palakkad, where he built a practice focused on civil law.

Menon says a lawyer’s duty is to earn clients’ trust and represent them responsibly, not simply to handle many cases.

He has represented hundreds of people, and his continued work and experience are seen as an example for younger lawyers.
