Heavy rain and flash-flood risk forecast across parts of Saudi Arabia

Saudi Arabia’s National Center for Meteorology forecast moderate to heavy thunderstorms on Sunday in parts of Jazan, Asir, Al-Baha, Makkah, Madinah, Tabuk, Al-Jouf and the Northern Borders.

It also forecast thunderstorms in southern parts of the Eastern Region, while Hail could see lighter rain.

The storms may bring hail, strong winds, dust and flash floods.

Fog could form overnight and early in the morning along coastal parts of the Eastern Region, Makkah, Madinah and Tabuk, reducing visibility.

In the Red Sea, storm conditions could bring winds above 50 kilometres per hour and waves higher than two metres.

The Gulf was forecast to have lighter seas.

The forecast covers Sunday; no later outlook was provided.
