HomePod mini 2 is expected to add a faster chip and support smarter Siri

HomePod mini 2 is expected to add a faster chip and support smarter Siri

Apple is reportedly preparing a second-generation HomePod mini, a small speaker for music and smart-home controls.

The current model has used the same S5 chip for nearly six years, and earlier rumors pointed to an S9 chip for its successor.

New reporting instead says the HomePod mini 2 will use an S10 chip and may support Apple’s upgraded Siri, though its exact features are not known.

A more capable Siri could handle more conversational requests and work more closely with apps.

The speaker is also expected to work alongside HomeView, Apple’s reported smart-home screen, giving people another way to use voice controls and play music in different rooms.

Apple is expected to showcase both products on October 13, with the mini reportedly reaching stores on October 30 and HomeView arriving in mid-November.
