Il Lombardia 2026 begins with early attacks as the peloton stays together

Il Lombardia, one of cycling’s major one-day races, has started.

Several riders tried to break away, but the main group caught them.

Five riders who are retiring received a guard of honour before the race.

The early moves have not yet produced a leading group.
