Left party says Koçak can remain in its Bundestag group

The Left’s parliamentary group says Ferat Koçak can remain a member and keep his role as its spokesperson on anti-racism and anti-fascism.

He will leave the interior committee and move to another committee, which has not yet been chosen.

The decision rejects a demand from Berlin’s SPD leader for Koçak to leave the group.

The dispute comes amid wider divisions in the Left over an agreement with the SPD and Greens on addressing antisemitism.
