Chargers place Rashawn Slater on injured reserve after ankle surgery

Los Angeles Chargers left tackle Rashawn Slater had surgery Thursday for a high ankle sprain and was placed on injured reserve Friday.

He suffered the injury in the Chargers’ loss to the Seattle Seahawks last weekend.

Slater will miss at least four games and begin rehabilitation immediately.

The Chargers are 0-4 and host the Denver Broncos on Sunday as they seek their first win.

Slater also missed all of last season after rupturing a tendon in his left knee during training camp.

Several other Chargers players are dealing with injuries, including tackle Joe Alt, who has a neck injury.

Slater’s absence adds to the team’s injury problems, and the sources do not give a return date beyond the minimum four-game absence.
