Shaun Wright-Phillips says Strictly partner is scarier than Mourinho

Shaun Wright-Phillips, a former England footballer, is competing on BBC dance show Strictly Come Dancing.

He says his professional dance partner, Alexis Warr, is scarier than José Mourinho, who managed him at Chelsea in the mid-2000s.

Mourinho was known for strict rules, including penalties for lateness and poor behaviour.

Wright-Phillips says he can prepare for Warr’s instructions, while Mourinho was unpredictable.

His adoptive father, former footballer Ian Wright, watched him train and saw how difficult the routines are.

Ian Wright called his son’s first dance stiff but also encouraged him.

Wright-Phillips says he is still outside his comfort zone as he learns to bring his footballing confidence to the dance floor.
