Anantapur programme urges young people to prepare for disasters

A disaster preparedness programme was held in Anantapur at PVKK Engineering College.

Mera Yuva Bharat organised it with local education, youth, Red Cross and fire department groups to mark the International Day for Disaster Risk Reduction 2026.

Speakers urged young people to learn how to respond during emergencies, including earthquakes, floods and fires.

They said planning, coordination and quick action can help protect lives and limit damage.

The District Fire Department held a mock drill demonstrating fire safety and emergency response.

Students also took part in painting competitions about disaster preparedness and received prizes and certificates.

The programme aimed to help young people build safer communities by giving them practical knowledge and confidence.
