Ozon to end sellers’ goods insurance programme on October 13
Ozon will stop its insurance programme for sellers’ goods on October 13.
The programme is provided by insurer Ingosstrakh, and existing policies will remain valid until 23:59 Moscow time on October 12.
Ingosstrakh said changes to reinsurance conditions on October 1 and less available reinsurance capacity made it harder to provide the required protection.
Claims arising from incidents before the programme ends will still be paid if they meet the policy conditions.
Some sellers have already received part of their compensation, with the rest due after inventory checks at logistics centres are complete.
Ozon’s existing support for sellers will continue, and the company said it will look for other ways to protect goods stored in its warehouses.
In September, Ingosstrakh said it had paid 8.2 billion roubles to sellers whose goods were damaged in attacks on warehouses in Chapayevsk, Makhachkala and Enem.
Ozon will end its insurance program for sellers’ goods on October 13, Ingosstrakh said.
Policies will remain valid until 23:59 Moscow time on October 12, then be disabled in sellers’ accounts.
Ingosstrakh said changes to reinsurance conditions and reduced reinsurance capacity led to the decision.
Claims for incidents occurring before October 13 that are recognized as insured events will still be paid under policy terms.
Ozon’s existing support measures for sellers will continue, and the company will seek other ways to protect goods in its warehouses.
