Two men jailed over Catalonia home robberies targeting footballers

Catalan police arrested two men over a series of home robberies linked to well-known people in the region.

One break-in took place on January 10 at the home of Joan García, a Barcelona goalkeeper, while he was in Saudi Arabia with the team.

The group is linked to at least eight robberies in several Catalan towns, targeting homes of people with a high public profile.

Police say the suspects also watched Jules Koundé’s home and prepared a possible robbery, but never carried it out.

The two men have been jailed, while a third person, a woman, was released and remains under investigation.

Investigators say the group used rented cars and watched residents’ movements before planning break-ins.

The investigation remains open, and police have not ruled out links to robberies elsewhere in Spain.
