China exposes five cases of tax agencies helping clients evade taxes
China’s State Taxation Administration has exposed five cases in which tax service providers helped clients evade taxes.
The cases involved Anhui, Guizhou, Guangxi, Zhejiang and Shandong.
Some providers sold illegal schemes as ways to save tax, while others helped businesses hide income, inflate expenses or use false documents.
The authority said those involved faced measures including recovering unpaid taxes and imposing fines.
These schemes can make transactions look different from what actually happened, rather than legally reducing a tax bill.
In the first half of 2026, authorities investigated more than 500 tax service providers for helping clients evade taxes through deliberate planning or collusion.
The tax authority says it will continue to strengthen oversight and act against illegal conduct.
