Indonesia launches 11 industrial projects worth Rp 180 trillion in North Maluku

Indonesia’s President Prabowo Subianto launched 11 industrial projects worth Rp 180 trillion at the Weda Bay industrial park in North Maluku on October 8, 2026.

The event also marked the first export of electric vehicle batteries from the site.

Four projects have entered commercial operation, covering battery materials, batteries, aluminium and electric heavy equipment.

The other seven have begun construction and include projects for battery components, aluminium, electric trucks and solar-panel glass.

The projects extend processing in Weda Bay beyond nickel to products used in batteries, transport and renewable energy.

The park already has more than 100,000 workers, and the 11 projects are projected to create up to 13,950 more jobs.

Their construction and operation are expected to expand industrial activity and business opportunities around the park.
