Basel plans a new watch and jewellery fair for April 2027
Basel is preparing to host a new watch and jewellery fair called Basilia Jewellery & Watch Fair.
Its first edition is planned for 8 to 11 April 2027.
Basel lost its major watch fair, Baselworld, after its final edition in 2019.
Since then, Geneva has become Switzerland’s main centre for watch events, including Watches and Wonders, and also hosts the jewellery fair GemGenève.
MCH Exhibitions & Events, which operates the Basel exhibition centre, says Basilia is intended to complement Geneva’s events rather than compete directly.
The organisers describe Geneva as focused on luxury and say Basel will target the mid-market.
The two cities’ events are scheduled for almost the same dates, although no further details about how they will coordinate were given.
