Swiss wine entrepreneur Dominique Giroud owes public bodies more than CHF 9 million

Dominique Giroud, a wine entrepreneur from Valais, Switzerland, owes more than CHF 9 million to municipalities and other public bodies.

He was convicted of tax fraud in a case uncovered in 2013.

The debts include more than CHF 1 million owed to Grimisuat and more than CHF 1.7 million owed to Saxon.

Giroud has reportedly made no repayments since March 2024, and recent debt enforcement proceedings ended with certificates showing the money could not be recovered.

This indicates that he has no assets that can be seized to pay the debts.

Grimisuat’s mayor says the municipality’s claim is unlikely to be collected.

Giroud is still officially registered at a large estate in Grimisuat, but land records show it belongs to his children.

The public bodies may therefore be left with the unpaid debts.
