Erdoğan backs closer ties at Turkic youth gathering in Kocaeli

Hundreds of young people from Turkic communities and countries gathered in Kocaeli, Turkey, from October 9 to 11.

The event brought together participants from member and observer countries of the Organization of Turkic States, Turkic communities around the world and all 81 provinces of Turkey.

President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan sent a video message saying the community’s ties extend beyond national borders and are based on shared history and culture.

He said Turkey would continue to support young people working toward a shared, prosperous future.

At the gathering’s closing, participants announced 11 proposals, including stronger student exchanges and cooperation in science, artificial intelligence, business, media and the arts.

The proposals aim to build connections among young people and promote shared cultural heritage.

Erdoğan said Turkey aims to advance cooperation at the Organization of Turkic States summit planned for Ankara later that month.
