Spain defines large property owners by homes owned or residential floor area
In Spain, a person or company is generally considered a large property owner if they have at least 11 residential properties or more than 1,500 square metres of residential space.
These are alternative tests, and garages and storage rooms do not count.
In some designated high-pressure housing areas, regional authorities can set a threshold of five or more homes in that area.
The rules matter because large owners have certain housing obligations, but the five-home threshold does not apply everywhere.
