Indonesian MotoGP round brings business and jobs to Lombok

The Pertamina Grand Prix of Indonesia took place from 9 to 11 October 2026 at the Mandalika circuit in Lombok, Indonesia.

The event brought together motorcycle racing and entertainment, attracting visitors from Indonesia and other countries.

Pertamina said the event created opportunities for local businesses, including 30 small businesses selling food, drinks and crafts at the venue.

Local accommodation providers reported higher occupancy, and residents found work in roles such as security, cleaning and crowd control.

Pertamina also supported community programs, including equipment for weavers in Sade village, scholarships and help with homestays and tourism in Kuta Mandalika.

Indonesian riders Veda Ega Pratama and Mario Suryo Aji competed in Moto3 and Moto2, respectively.

Pertamina said it hopes the event will help local people build skills and livelihoods beyond the race, though it gave no timeline for further effects.
