Valencia region to close family meeting centres in seven municipalities
The Valencian regional government plans to close judicial family meeting centres in seven municipalities from November 1.
The centres provide safe, neutral spaces for family contact when a court order requires them.
The affected municipalities are Requena, Manises and Alfafar in Valencia province; Sant Vicent del Raspeig, Vila Joiosa and Villena in Alicante province; and Vila-real in Castellón province.
The PSPV, a socialist party in the region, says a revised plan still leaves these closures in place after an earlier decision to cut ten centres.
Its spokesperson says more than 2,000 families rely on the service and that closures could mean longer journeys, longer waiting lists and added stress for children and families.
The PSPV also says the 2026 regional budget cut funding by 19 million euros for social organisations providing services for children and adolescents.
The revised map is due to take effect on November 1.
The PSPV says a revised regional plan will still remove family meeting centres in seven municipalities in the Valencian Community.
The affected municipalities are Requena, Manises, Alfafar, Sant Vicent del Raspeig, La Vila Joiosa, Villena and Vila-real.
The new map is due to take effect on 1 November.
PSPV spokesperson Romina del Rey says the closures could make it harder for families to access safe spaces ordered by courts.
She also says the changes could increase travel and waiting times and put children under greater stress.

It means reducing the protection network for children and adolescents across the Valencian Community, causing suffering to families and putting minors at risk
The correction has not reversed the removal of these facilities
