Kenya reports no new Ebola cases after its first recorded death

Kenya says it has found no new Ebola cases since a man died in Nairobi on October 5.

The man, who was 40, tested positive in the Democratic Republic of Congo before travelling to Kenya.

He was Kenya’s first recorded Ebola case.

Health authorities tested 293 samples, and none were positive.

Of 122 people identified as contacts, 108 are in quarantine and have no symptoms.

Kenya is tracing contacts and urging people to seek care if they develop symptoms.

The case was imported from the Democratic Republic of Congo, where an outbreak caused by the Bundibugyo strain has no available treatment or vaccine; Kenyan authorities are urging people to stay alert and follow safety measures.
