European shares rebound as French bond yields ease

Major European stock markets rose on Friday after falling the day before.

The rebound came as government bond yields eased across most eurozone countries, with a particularly strong decline in France.

The Euro Stoxx 50, the main index for the eurozone, gained 0.76% but still lost 1% over the week.

Shares in mining and steel companies rose, while ArcelorMittal gained after UBS upgraded its rating.

Telecom shares were the weakest sector as investors weighed the prospect of stronger competition in the United States.

SpaceX has announced that it is acquiring US mobile spectrum, and its Starlink satellites could make it a major rival in the US mobile market.
