Russian missile strike kills one and injures 13 in Kyiv

Russian ballistic missiles struck Kyiv late on October 13, hitting a nine-story residential building in the city’s Desnyanskyi district.

The strike caused a large fire, and one person was killed and 13 were injured; 10 of the injured were hospitalized, with four in serious condition.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said the attack also targeted energy infrastructure, including a combined heat and power plant.

Ukraine’s allies gave no early warning for a second day in a row, according to Ukrainian officials and the Air Force.

The day before, Zelensky had also said Ukraine received no warning before a Russian missile strike on Kyiv.

Ukraine’s Air Force said it received no information from partners about missile launches on either day.

Zelensky said Ukrainian intelligence expects further Russian missile strikes, but no specific next attack was described.
