Astra and Indonesian government expand village stunting prevention program
Astra is working with Indonesia’s Ministry of Population and Family Development to prevent stunting in Gedepangrango village, in Sukabumi, West Java.
The effort is part of GENTING, a national program that supports families at risk of stunting, and has been strengthened in the village since June 2025.
It provides nutrition aid, clean water and sanitation support, health education, and guidance for pregnant women and families with young children.
Health workers have also received training, and the village’s integrated health post has expanded its services.
After those services began in September 2025, visits rose from 706 to 795, a 13% increase.
From April to June 2026, 55 community health workers visited 674 families, reaching 1,781 people.
Those home visits are set to continue through March 2027 with support from Astra’s corporate social responsibility program.
The partnership aims to strengthen local health services and support families in preventing stunting.
Astra International is supporting Indonesia’s GENTING stunting-prevention program through nutrition and family-support activities in Desa Sejahtera Astra Gedepangrango, Sukabumi Regency, West Java.
Deputy Minister Ratu Ayu Isyana Bagoes Oka visited the village on October 9, 2026, to review the program and recognize Astra’s participation.
Support includes food or ready-to-eat meals for families at risk of stunting, sanitation and housing improvements, clean-water access, health education, and assistance for pregnant women and families with young children.
The village program has been developed since 2021, with health services strengthened from June 2025 through trained community health workers, improved Posyandu services, and home visits.
Astra said Posyandu visits rose 13% after the integrated service model was introduced, while home visits from April to June 2026 reached 674 families.
