Malware found preinstalled on thousands of low-cost Android phones

Some low-cost Android phones came with malware already built in.

It can secretly install apps and create fake ad clicks to make money.

It may also collect device information or help form a botnet, a group of infected devices controlled together.

Researchers found it on thousands of phones across more than 150 countries, but its route into the phone supply chain is not known.
