Naga group gives 48-hour deadline to return man's severed head in Manipur

A Naga civil society group in Manipur has given a 48-hour deadline for the return of Ajinbou R.'s severed head.

The 52-year-old man's headless body was brought to a hospital in Imphal for a post-mortem after an alleged attack on Makui Ashang village in Kangpokpi district on October 10.

The group says the post-mortem should not take place until his head is returned to his family for burial.

It warned that it would take stringent measures if the head is not returned within the deadline.

The killing comes amid renewed violence involving armed Kuki and Naga groups in several Manipur districts.

At least nine people were killed in separate shootings on October 9 and 10, according to the report.

More than 50 people have been killed and dozens of homes burned in Kuki-Naga violence since February.

Manipur's chief minister has called for steps to restore peace and protect residents.
