Vivo X Fold6 draws interest, but buyers say its price is a hurdle

The vivo X Fold6 is a new book-style foldable phone from vivo.

A poll about the phone found that many people interested in foldables would prefer a lower price.

Rising memory-chip costs have pushed foldable prices higher, adding to the cost of devices that are already expensive.

Vivo designed the X Fold6 as a high-end phone, prioritising performance, battery life and cameras over value for money.

Some buyers also questioned its move to a MediaTek Dimensity 9500 Super chip and said Android apps need to work better with foldable screens.

Interest is split between book-style foldables and newer, wider designs, so it is not yet clear which form people will prefer.

The phone missed Prime Day, and discounts are expected, but major price cuts may not come.

High prices remain the biggest barrier to wider adoption of foldable phones.
