IonQ demonstrates quantum link with more than 1,000 entanglements per second

IonQ connected two different kinds of quantum bits using a link that carries information with light.

The systems became entangled more than 1,000 times per second.

Faster links could help separate quantum processors work together without waiting on slow connections.

The demonstration is a step toward larger quantum computers built from connected modules.
