Stella warns McLaren drivers after Norris-Piastri Sprint collision
McLaren drivers Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri collided on the final lap of the Sprint race at the Singapore Grand Prix.
Norris tried to pass Piastri at Turn 5, and the contact sent Piastri into the wall and out of the race; Norris finished eighth.
Team principal Andrea Stella called the incident unacceptable and met with both drivers to reset the team’s racing rules.
He said the team’s interests must come before any driver’s individual interests.
Norris apologised over team radio, and Stella said he expects to see more such examples in future.
McLaren also lacks the pace to consistently challenge Red Bull and Ferrari, according to Stella.
The team is preparing car updates for the next three races in Austin, Mexico and Brazil, hoping they will help it fight for podiums.
