Chhattisgarh reports ₹8 lakh crore in investment commitments for 280 projects
Chhattisgarh officials say 280 projects have received investment commitments of about ₹8 lakh crore since the state introduced its Industrial Development Policy in November 2024.
The commitments are not money already invested, and the projects are expected to create more than 1.6 lakh jobs.
About 55% have reached the grounding stage, but they still need to move through construction and into production and employment.
The state’s industrial economy has traditionally relied on mining, steel, power and other mineral-based industries.
Officials say around half of the projects involve sectors such as electronics, pharmaceuticals, textiles, food processing and IT, which could broaden that industrial base.
Examples include a planned ₹10,000 crore semiconductor unit and a ₹1,000 crore AI data centre park in Nava Raipur.
The government says it has made more than 450 business reforms, including online land processes and a single-window system for approvals.
The next test is whether the commitments become operating projects and jobs.
